Original Vintage Double Bass Bow French Style Unstamped Nice Playing Stick.
I’m selling the backup to my ,. 1920 French made stick (not for sale, but pictured for comparison).
This stick for sale, going by it’s patina and parts, I would date to around c. 1930-1940. It looks to be of Pernembucco from looking in the cavity of the frog.
It is a fast playing stick that a soloist would be able to maneuver with with ease. The stick is slightly lighter than my main one (which is 136 gr). I would guess it is around 125 gr.
It is a round stick with the only octagonal cuts being for the frog to be mounted.
I believe that it is a nickel mount. The frog is ebony and has one very small chip at the slide. The screw is pointed which to me indicates c. 1930-1940 production.
There are no cracks or breaks to the stick. The head is swan like in shape, so I believe is French made. Please see photos to compare to my main stick.
It is a very nice playing stick. Hair has been freshly cleaned of old rosin and has plenty of life left to it.
